Jean-Philippe BEDELL est directeur de recherche au Laboratoire d’Ecologie des Hydrosystèmes Naturels et Anthropisés (LEHNA, UMR 5023). Il est le directeur de l’équipe « Impacts des Aménagements et des Polluants sur les Hydrosystèmes-IAPHY » rattachée à l’Ecole Nationale des Travaux Publics de l’Etat (ENTPE). Ses travaux de recherche se situent à l’interface des Sciences de la Terre et de l’Ecologie fonctionnelle par l’étude du rôle des organismes vivants sur la mobilité des polluants présents dans les anthroposols. Cette thématique de recherche porte sur la mobilité environnementale des polluants dans les sols/sédiments et plus particulièrement sur la compréhension du fonctionnement de ces matrices et de leurs interactions avec des organismes vivants (bactéries, vers de terre et plantes) avec pour objectifs de faire le lien entre un environnement physico-géochimique et une réponse biologique jusqu’à l’évaluation des risques pour l’écosystème. Ses recherches ont donc porté sur des objets d’étude tels que des ouvrages (bassin d’infiltration des eaux pluviales, bassins autoroutiers …), des matrices sédimentaires (de canaux, de cours d’eau …), des pratiques et/ou problèmes d’exploitation (dépôts sur sol de sédiments, remise en suspension de sédiment fluviatile, colmatage de bassins d’infiltration, amendements de sols…) qui font partie des préoccupations nationales ou locales (Voies Navigables de France, Lyon Métropole, Compagnie National du Rhône, Office Française de la Biodiversité …) et du Ministère en charge de la transition écologique.

Jean-Philippe BEDELL is Director of Research at the Laboratory of Ecology of Natural and Anthropised Hydrosystems (LEHNA, UMR 5023). He's the Director of the ‘Impacts of Development and Pollutants on Hydrosystems-IAPHY’ team attached to the National School of Public Works (ENTPE). His research work focuses on the interface between Earth Sciences and Functional Ecology through the study of the role of living organisms on the mobility of pollutants present in anthroposols. This research topic focuses on the environmental mobility of pollutants in soils/sediments and, more specifically, on understanding how these matrices function and interact with living organisms (bacteria, earthworms and plants), with the aim of establishing the link between a physico-geochemical environment and a biological response, through to the assessment of risks to the ecosystem. His research therefore focused on subjects such as structures (rainwater infiltration basins, motorway basins, etc.), sedimentary matrices (canals, watercourses, etc.), operational practices and/or problems (sediment deposits on the ground, resuspension of river sediment, clogging of infiltration basins, soil amendments, etc.) that are of national or local concern (Voies Navigables de France, Lyon Métropole, Compagnie National du Rhône, Office Française de la Biodiversité, etc.) and to the Ministry for ecological transition.
