My work focuses on the biodiversity and functioning of the alluvial aquifers (hyporheic zone) of New Caledonia, and the understanding of the factors that influence the geographical distribution of the fauna of these ecosystems. For this purpose, I use an approach based on the description of factors at the local scale and at the catchment scale, and on the links between these two types of factors. During my master internship, I studied the distribution of subterranean crustaceans in New Caledonian rivers ( http://doi.org/10.1111/ecog.06099 ).

As part of a pre-doctoral fellowship supported by the EUR H2O'Lyon, my objective is to understand how geology and mining operations in the catchments influences local conditions in alluvial aquifers and the distribution of the oligochaete aquatic worms living in these ecosystems.

This work is made possible by the sampling carried out by LEHNA (C. Douady and F. Malard) in the framework of the expedition La Planète Revisitée in New Caledonia led by the MNHN ( https://nouvellecaledonie.laplaneterevisitee.org/ ).
